The sensitive device permissions TAIIP Truck Track requests, what each one is used for, and a short demonstration of each in the App.
Full detail of what is collected, how long it is kept and who it is shared with is in our Privacy Policy. Drivers can withdraw any of these permissions at any time in their device settings.
Truck Track reports vehicle position while a driver is signed on to a truck, including when the App is in the background or closed. Location collection stops the moment the driver signs off. The demonstration shows the disclosure shown to the driver, the permission being requested, and tracking running with the App in the background.
Position updates and arrival and departure events have to keep running while a driver is working rather than only while the App is on screen. Android requires this to run as a foreground service with a persistent notification, so the driver can always see when tracking is active.
The push to talk radio works like a CB or UHF radio between drivers and dispatch. The microphone opens only while a driver is transmitting, and the radio stays available with the App in the background so a call can be heard without the App on screen. Voice is transmitted live and is not recorded or stored.
